I have been working on plant–pathogen interaction studies, focusing on understanding the mechanisms of pathogen attack and plant resistance strategies, particularly in the sugarcane smut pathosystem, aiming to identify potential targets for sustainable disease management. Currently, my research explores the transcriptome of fungus–plant interactions to uncover metabolic pathways linked to symptom development and pathogen reproduction. I am particularly interested in identifying gene targets that can be tested through functional validation in model plants such as Arabidopsis thaliana and tomato (Solanum spp.).
